CHOOSE THE WRENCH TYPE FOR THE PROCEDURE
Click-type, beam, dial and digital torque wrenches present torque in different ways. The correct choice depends on the work procedure, required feedback and working environment. A digital wrench can support displayed targets and alerts; a mechanical type may suit procedures that need a straightforward preset tool. The vehicle or equipment specification remains the starting point.
CHECK THE WORKING RANGE
Select a wrench whose published range covers the specified value for the work. Do not use a wrench outside its intended range or guess a torque from the size of a fastener. The correct torque is determined by the assembly maker, joint condition and procedure—not by a general rule of thumb.
MATCH DRIVE AND SOCKET
The square drive must match the impact or hand socket system used for the job and fit the available access. Keep the wrench square to the fastener and avoid unsuitable adapters or extensions unless the procedure and tool instructions allow them. A correct torque value cannot compensate for a socket that is loose or not fully seated.
